Theopeningofmyartshow
Here is the flyer, artist's statement and a view of the display.
I set up 4 of the pictures, in a progression, to show the evolution of one of Picasso's pieces in the film, "Mystery Of Picasso".
They're at the top - the banner reads: EVOLUTION OF A PICASSO

I used to work as an artist's assistant for a local artist/sculptor named Karl Stirner.
Karl is heavily influenced by Picasso.
He's had his works displayed in museums both domestically and abroad.
We still keep in contact and, just for curiosity, I looked up Picasso on youtube.
I found the promotional trailer for the 1956 movie, "Mystery Of Picasso".
I was intrigued when I saw Picasso making his works with magic marker.
I've always liked drawing. I've been drawing since I was a kid and I thought I'd give his works a try.
I never really felt that I had the talent for painting.
When I realized that some of the drawings included paint, I decided to present myself with a challenge: Recreate with ink, what Picasso did with paint!

myartopening
On July 31st, I had a lecture at my art opening at Infusion Coffee And Tea.
It was the first time I ever lectured about art.
This was my first attempt at this type of art project.
The audience found thelecture entertaining and informative.
After which, we all went two doors up to view the film, "Mystery Of Picasso".
This is the film from which I derived the works.
It was interesting to sit there with people while they watched Picasso creating the works which I worked to recreate.
Just for fun, I had bought cheap copies of the film on DVD.
I resold a few of them to the attendees!
